Supporting the People Behind the Trades
The construction industry is good at building things. It’s also built on people looking out for one another.
That’s one of the reasons DL Bins is proud to support The FORGE and the Construction Foundation of BC as they create a dedicated space for construction and trades workers to find support, connection and resources for mental health and addictions.
Located in Langford, The FORGE is transforming a former building into a wellness and recovery hub designed specifically for people working in the skilled trades. The project is being built around a trades-specific, peer-led approach, bringing together people with lived experience, recovery coaching, counselling and connections to other resources.
A Building With a New Purpose
There’s something meaningful about the transformation happening at The FORGE.
The building has a history, but it’s being given a completely new purpose — one focused on connection, recovery and support for the trades community.
The Construction Foundation of BC purchased the property in 2025 and began the work of turning it into a space built by and for tradespeople.
The FORGE has already been providing services while the permanent facility is under renovation, with the completed space expected to open in early 2027.
DL Bins Is Glad to Pitch In
As the renovation continues, DL Bins has been donating bins to help with the work at the new facility.
It’s a practical contribution to a much bigger project, and one we’re happy to make.
Every renovation needs a place for materials and debris to go, and providing bins is one small way we can help keep the work moving while The FORGE takes shape.
For a project that is all about supporting people who build, repair and maintain our communities, it feels especially fitting to have the construction industry itself helping bring the space to life.
Built for the Trades Community
What makes The FORGE different is its focus on meeting tradespeople where they are.
Its model is based on peer support – connecting people with others who understand the culture and realities of working in the trades. The goal is to create a place where workers can find support from people who understand their experiences, alongside professional services and connections to additional resources.
That sense of community is something the construction industry already knows well.
You show up for the crew. You lend a hand when someone needs it. You work together to get the job done.
The FORGE is extending that same spirit beyond the job site.
Looking Forward to What The FORGE Becomes
There’s still plenty of work ahead, but it’s exciting to see the transformation taking place.
DL Bins is proud to contribute a small, practical piece to the renovation and to support a project that is creating something new for the trades community.
We’re looking forward to seeing the doors open and seeing The FORGE become a place where tradespeople can find connection, support and a path forward when they need it.
A new space, a new purpose and another way the trades community can look out for its own.
