What the New Year Brings for Our Customers

Greetings and salutations from all of us at DL Bins. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage and support, as well as update you on some of the exciting changes that we are implementing in 2026 to serve you better. First and foremost, we are integrating our service companies island wide and will be operating more closely with our aligned business units in Nanaimo, Campbell River and Port Hardy.

The new partnership has been named Mission Island Group and you may see some reference to that group in the backend of the business going forward, although the local team you have come to know will remain your south island service provider. We hope that we are able to leverage the larger divisional coverage to provide savings to our customers and improved service throughout the region.

New Faces

We are excited to introduce you to our incoming General Manager, Paul Chypiska who has recently joined the team and is excited to take on the challenges of managing all of our island waste services. Paul brings with him a wealth of experience and has managed many large waste collection and processing companies throughout his career. Paul will be replacing the outgoing general manager, Spencer Atkinson who is taking a director position with our parent organization, Mission Environmental Services Group and will continue to lend his support and experience to our team from his new position. We wish Spencer the best in his new role and are excited to have Paul take over the island operations.

In addition to Paul coming on board, we are excited to have Aaron Stokell move into the position of Driver Co-Ordinator. Aaron was previously a driver for DL Bins and has moved into the co-ordinator role after demonstrating consistent leadership and mentorship excellence. You might speak to him when ordering a bin via telephone as he will be filling in as a member of our dispatch team from time-to-time.

Paula Salcedo has recently joined our accounting team as the Junior Controller for DL Bins. Paula has all the credentials and experience necessary to help improve our backend efficiency and we are happy to have her experience in the organization.

New Services

Starting in late winter/early spring 2026, DL Bins will begin accepting Demolition Waste at our expanded transfer facility on Oldfield Road. This site is undergoing a modernization and expansion process to improve operations and expand our service offerings. You may notice some construction at the site over the coming months and we hope that once complete, the site will be able to manage materials more efficiently and have customers come and go with less wait times.

Apart from these changes – it’s business as usual at DL Bins in 2026. We expect that the changes we have made over the course of the last year continue to bear fruit and that we can exceed your expectations for service quality and customer satisfaction in the coming year.

We would like to thank all of you for a great start to the winter. Without your loyalty, we would not have been able to improve our service model this far and we will continue to refine our operation to serve you even better. We are truly grateful and will continue to try and exceed your expectations. From all of us at DL Bins, DL Recycling Centre and Fisher Road Recycling – we want to wish you, your teams and all your families a warm and successful summer 2026!

Sincerely,

Matt Goss
