A Big Step Forward
We’re excited to share some big news at DL Bins – our new Material Recovery Facility (MRF) is now up and running!
This is a major milestone for our team and an important step forward in how we process waste. By recovering more recyclable materials before they reach the landfill, we’re making our operations more efficient while helping keep valuable resources in use.
Giving More Materials a Second Life
Not everything that arrives at a landfill is actually garbage. Many loads contain recyclable materials that can be recovered and reused if they’re properly sorted.
Our new Material Recovery Facility is designed to do exactly that. Using a combination of advanced equipment and hands-on sorting, the system separates materials such as wood, metals, plastics, and other recyclables so they can be sent on for their next use instead of ending up in the landfill.
Every material we recover is one less item going to waste and one more resource that can be put back to work.
How the Process Works
Once material arrives at the facility, it moves through a series of conveyors and screening equipment that help separate it by size and type. From there, our team carefully sorts the remaining materials to recover as much as possible.
This combination of technology and experienced staff allows us to capture more recyclable materials while making the entire process faster, safer, and more efficient.
A Better Way to Manage Waste
Investing in our new Material Recovery Facility is part of our ongoing commitment to responsible waste management. By recovering more materials before disposal, we’re helping reduce landfill waste, conserve valuable resources, and support a more sustainable future for Vancouver Island.
It’s an investment that benefits not only our business, but also our customers, our communities, and the environment.
Looking Ahead
The launch of our new Material Recovery Facility marks an exciting new chapter for DL Bins. As the system continues to operate and evolve, it will play an increasingly important role in recovering valuable materials, reducing landfill waste, and improving the efficiency of our operations.
We’re proud of this investment and what it means for the future. As we continue to grow, we’ll keep looking for smarter, more sustainable ways to help our customers manage waste responsibly while protecting the places we all call home.
